Cora Primavera is a 130-minute performance, and due to its duration and scale, it couldn’t always be staged everywhere. To sow seeds in multiple places and discover new creative possibilities from an already established work, we created Cantata for Spring, a shorter 50-minute performance that synthesized Cora Primavera and allowed the Company’s affective and creative transitions into new spaces.
Cantata for Love presents itself as a sketch, a 25-minute scene. This Cantata is the first act of the ritual-manifesto Karabaré: Love Poetry—a condensed version of the play, ideal for venues and institutions seeking and open to hosting a short performance.
Built upon poetry with musical beats, the Cantata serves as an oracle about Lovers and Love, and can be shared with children, teenagers, adults, and seniors.

Cantata for Eros is the name of Rafael Abrahão’s poem that originated the structure of Cantata for Love. NOTE: This video is not an excerpt of the Cantata itself, only a fraction of its construction process.

The first part of the performance Karabaré: Love Poetry, called Cantata for Love, consists of a scenic choral poetry about love—this universal theme, an invisible force that materially builds our society and its relationships. The Cantata approaches love as a social cause, presenting concise and musicalized poetry that introduces the universe of Karabaré through a synthesis of Plato’s Symposium. This text is a philosophical dialogue written around 380 B.C. and remains contemporary due to its profound philosophical approach to the nature of love (from the Platonic perspective and the pursuit of wisdom and transcendence), its reflections on truth and beauty, its diverse perspectives (including scientific, philosophical, mythological, and poetic views), its ethical and moral relevance, and its role in classical philosophy studies.
The Cantata is also marked by the musicality of its poetry, blending lyrical and mantric sounds with frevo, salsa, ijexá, funk, and coco de roda. Furthermore, it invites the audience to co-act in the event, dancing along with the group and complementing the scene by reading poetic excerpts.
In short, Cantata for Love explores love in familial, friendly, romantic, relational, and affective bonds, serving as an oracle for the performance Karabaré: Love Poetry.

Cantata for Love is an excerpt from the play Karabaré: Love Poetry, created by Santa Companhia de Teatro. Based on card #6 "The Lovers" from the Marseille Tarot and the text The Symposium by the Greek philosopher Plato, it presents symbols and interpretations of passion, desires, and the paths of love.
In a dynamic and educational sketch format, it features a group of musicians, actors, and actresses who craft a unique poetic language and captivating musical rhythms, including salsa, frevo, coco de roda, and more.

Being a pocket-sized performance, its technical requirements are simplified. Ideal for breaking away from the ordinary on special dates and enhancing event programming.
